STAFFORD TWP. — A Tuckerton woman was hospitalized after she rear-ended a dump truck on Tuesday, police said.

Stafford police responded at around 3:30 p.m. to a motor-vehicle crash involving a sedan and dump truck at milepost 68.6 on Route 9 south.

Stafford police responded at around 3:30 p.m. to a motor-vehicle crash involving a sedan and dump truck at milepost 68.6 on Route 9 south, Officer Christopher Fritz said in a news release.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver of a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, Jennifer L. Wojcik, 40, of Tuckerton, drove into the back of a dump truck, Fritz said.

The dump truck, driven by Edgar L. Rodriguez, was slowing down to allow a vehicle exit the Sahara Sands sand plant, Fritz said. Both vehicles were traveling south on Route 9.

Wojcik sustained cuts to her face as a result of the crash and was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin. Her Sonota was severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Route 9 was closed to traffic in both directions for approximately a half hour.

The crash remains under investigation.
