Two Lindenwold Juveniles Charged With Possession of a Firearm

Lindenwold, N.J. – Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Lindenwold Police Chief Michael McCarthy, Jr., announce that two Camden County youth (both 17 years of age) have been charged with firearms offenses as a result of an investigation conducted by the Lindenwold Police Department with the cooperation of the Lindenwold High School.

Today, it was brought to the attention of the Lindenwold Police Department that on 11/19/21 two Lindenwold High School students took pictures with a firearm and posted pictures on social media of one of the two youths in possession of the firearm. As a result, officers responded to the Lindenwold High School, the school was placed in lock down, and the firearm was recovered. The firearm was found in the possession of one of the two students while on school property.

For the 11/19/21 incident, both youths have been charged with Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes (Firearm), 2C:39-4a., 2nd degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Handgun), 2C:39-5b, 2nd degree.

For the 11/22/21 incident on school property, one youth has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes (Firearm), 2C:39-4a., 2nd degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Handgun), 2C:39-5b, 2nd degree, and Unlawful Possession of Weapon (Firearm in Educational Institution), 2C:39-5e.(1), 3rd degree.

Both youths have been detained in the Camden County Juvenile Detention Facility pending an initial detention hearing before the Camden County Superior Court – Juvenile Division.
