SOUTH BRUNSWICK — A tractor-trailer crash and fuel spill has closed a busy road near the New Jersey Turnpike in Middlesex County, and is expected to cause backups on Monday afternoon.
The truck and a car collided at 1:13 p.m. on Ridge Road at Nicholas Court, South Brunswick police Capt. James Ryan said in an email. The truck’s fuel tank ruptured and spilled about 70 gallons of on the road.
The road is closed while crews clean the fuel. One person suffered an injury that is not considered life-threatening.
A photo tweeted out by South Brunswick police at about 1:45 p.m. shows the truck’s cab heavily damaged along Ridge Road. The tractor-trailer did not overturn.
