Subject: News Release — Do you have an old New Jersey Municipal Court charge that is outstanding? What can you do about that?
Do you have an outstanding municipal court traffic offense, minor infraction, or municipal ordinance charge more than 10 or 15 years old in New Jersey?
The New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts has put together a three-Judge panel to determine if an how old unresolved Municipal Court case should be dismissed and how to take the steps to possibly do this.
The Administrative Office of the Courts notes there are hundreds of thousands of outstanding cases still open and unresolved which are more than
10 years old involving minor non-moving, equipment or no point traffic Municipal Court infractions.
There was a three-Judge panel assigned to take comments and testimony and conduct hearings throughout the state this week in Newark, Summerville, and Mount Holly to address public concerns regarding these issues.
As news progresses, I will keep you advised of the Administrative Office of the Courts’ report when possible recommendations have been made to the State Legislature. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Hark & Hark regarding these or any outstanding traffic tickets or summonses that may not be addressed by this Court action.
