Two separate crashes on Route 295 caused major delays for South Jersey commuters on Thursday.
New Jersey State Police Sgt. Tedesco at the Bellmawr station said that one incident on the southbound lanes near Route 70 in Mount Laurel involved two tractor trailers. One of the rigs received some front end damage and heavy duty tow trucks had to be brought in to remove both from the highway.
Tedesco said there was no spills or any injuries resulting from the crash. One truck sustained some front-end damage, according to Tedesco.
A second incident involving three vehicles in the same area was quickly cleared.
The incidents created multi-mile delays in both directions as two lanes were blocked southbound while rubberneckers slowed down to look at the incident northbound.
The New Jersey Turnpike , which parallels Route 295, is a much better option to get around the delays, according to New Jersey Traffic South’s Jill Myra.
