The left lane on Route 78 westbound remained closed around 9:35 a.m., according to HART commuter information services.
One occupant was trapped in the truck, according to unconfirmed emergency radio reports. A State Police medevac helicopter landed on the east-bound part of the highway near the accident scene, radio reports said.
The chopper, with a patient inside, took off around 9:40 a.m., bound for a hospital trauma center. Then two east-bound lanes of the interstate were opened to traffic.
A large amount of diesel fuel spilled in the accident, under the Rupell Road bridge according to radio reports. The county Haz-Mat team was called in to clean it up.
Pattenburg and Clinton rescue squads and fire companies responded to the call, along with state Troopers from the Perryville station.
