GLOUCESTER CITY — An Oaklyn man was killed early Friday morning in an accident along I-76, according to New Jersey State Police.

It was shortly before 5 a.m. when Michael Kouser, 38, was driving his tractor-trailer southbound along the highway. Authorities say he rear-ended a disabled vehicle, which caused Kouser’s truck to strike a guard rail and barrier.

New Jersey State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams said Kouser was transported to Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, where he was pronounced dead at 7:41 a.m.

The driver of the disabled Chevy Avalanche, which got a flat tire and was forced to pull into the right lane of travel, was not injured. Williams said the accident remains under investigation and charges had yet to be filed as of Friday afternoon.
