GLASSBORO, N.J. — Police say a 46-year old Appleton woman died early Wednesday after her boyfriend struck her with a pickup truck in a borough about 25 miles south of Philadelphia.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in Glassboro, N.J., according to a statement released by the Glassboro Police Department.
Officers who arrived at the scene found Lori Coenen in the roadway with serious injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her boyfriend, Scott Jahnel of Pickerel, Wis., was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a fatal crash and endangering an injured victim.
Jahnel, 46, left the scene of the crash but returned shortly after to tell police Coenen was struck when she jumped from the vehicle, the statement said. Police are still investigating the crash.
“The way she exited the vehicle is still unclear,” said Det. Jack Manning in an email to Post-Crescent Media.
Judge William Golden set Jahnel’s bail at $100,000. He is in the Salem County Jail in Salem, N.J.
Lisa Wolfgram posted a message on Facebook about her sister’s death around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. She said Coenen attended a Kid Rock concert the night she died.
