OLD BRIDGE — A New York teenager was hospitalized with serious injuries after the car he was traveling in ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle Tuesday morning, mycentraljersey.com reported.
The 18-year-old, a passenger in the car, was thrown from the vehicle in the accident at Spring Hill and Old Mill roads. The victim was travelling with friends to Great Adventure, but were directed through Old Bridge by a GPS instead of a more direct route via the New Jersey Turnpike, police said. The 17-year-old driver, who was not familiar with the area, was issued a summons for careless driving.
The other driver, a 21-year-old Manalapan woman, as well as the other occupants were unhurt.
The victim was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick.
