Tracy Morgan in Intensive Care After 6-Vehicle Crash

The actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was critically injured early on Saturday after the limousine bus in which he was riding was hit by a tractor-trailer in a six-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, the State Police said.

At least one person was killed in the crash, which occurred about 1 a.m., the State Police said, on the northbound side of the turnpike in Cranbury Township in Middlesex County, about 45 miles from New York City. The person was not immediately identified.

Sgt. Gregory Williams of the State Police said that Mr. Morgan, 45, a former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” cast member, had been a passenger in the limousine bus, which overturned after being struck by the tractor-trailer. Mr. Morgan was listed in critical condition in intensive care at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Center in New Brunswick, along with three other passengers, Sergeant Williams said. Two other people in the bus were not injured, he added.

A total of two tractor-trailers, a sport utility vehicle and two cars — along with the limo bus — were involved in the crash, Sergeant Williams added.

Mr. Morgan had been traveling to different cities recently on a tour called “Turn It Funny.” He performed at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, Del., on Friday night, a Dover spokeswoman said. He was scheduled to perform at the Fillmore Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday night. That show has been canceled.

The comedian joined “Saturday Night Live” in 1996 and was on the NBC sketch comedy for seven years before he joined “30 Rock,” which was created by his “Saturday Night Live” co-star Tina Fey.

Many entertainers expressed concern for the comedian on Twitter on Saturday. The actor Steve Martin called Mr. Morgan, “A real gentleman and hilariously funny.” Questlove, of the band The Roots, posted, “Strength & Speedy Recovery to @RealTracyMorgan who survived a massive car crash this morn.”
