MILLVILLE — A Commercial Township man in custody for a July 8 crash here that killed a city police officer was additionally charged on Thursday with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving in that incident.
Timothy W. Seidel II already is in Cumberland County Jail on far more serious charges of first-degree aggravated manslaughter, eluding police, second-degree vehicular homicide and second-degree aggravated manslaughter. In addition, the 23-year-old Seidel already was issued eight other traffic tickets.
Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae disclosed the two new summonses in a short statement Friday. Copies of the tickets also were released. Seidel’s alleged blood alcohol level was not released.
Criminal Defense Attorney Jeffrey Hark, who is representing Seidel, said the prosecutor’s office had not “reached out to me with any results or discussed any additional charges.”
“Nor was I contacted by the Prosecutor’s Office regarding any blood or breathe results that may have been obtained at the scene or soon thereafter and, as a result, I’m unable to comment,” Hark added.
Officer Christopher Reeves was killed when a car Seidel reportedly was driving struck his cruiser following a short, high-speed pursuit by other police officers. The crash took place at North 3rd and Broad streets.
